About

The history of addictinginfo.org

This domain used to belong to a different publication. Here is what it was, and how we treat what it left behind.

What was here before

From about 2011 until the late 2010s, addictinginfo.org hosted Addicting Info, a progressive political news and commentary site. Its stories were shared widely on social media and linked from news outlets, blogs, forums and reference sites, sometimes as sources and sometimes as examples of partisan or misleading coverage. In 2016, BuzzFeed News included it in a study of hyperpartisan Facebook pages on the left and right.

That site stopped publishing and the domain registration lapsed. The current owner acquired the domain in 2026.

Who we are not

We are not the earlier site, its publisher or its writers, and we don’t speak for them. Its contributors’ names do not appear on our work. If you wrote for the earlier site and want a record changed, contact us.

What happens to old links

Why we don’t republish the old articles

The articles belong to their authors and the earlier publisher, many made claims we can’t verify, and republishing them under new ownership would mislead readers about who wrote them.
