Overthrowing Democracy One City At A Time

Last week, Benton Harbor, Michigan was subjected to a hostile government takeover by a single individual. Just over a month after Republican Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation that gave broad new powers to emergency financial managers appointed by the state of Michigan to run struggling cities and schools and the ability to terminate union contracts, it has finally happened.

The Trump Presidency

The Trump Presidency

Out of all of the Republicans and conservatives, Donald Trump is not the one who I despise the most. In fact, I don’t even consider him to be a true Republican or a conservative. I see Trump as an entrepreneurial, political, profit-driven opportunist

The Tennessee Bubble: Gay Prohibition

By keeping children in that bubble you are creating a very volatile situation for very fragile lives. You are not only saying that being gay is not okay, but you are making it the law.

…It is well known that the Ryan Budget Proposal will have a real and negative affect in devastating the middle class, on whose backs the recovery is built and depends on. The hypocrisy…and no surprise… is that Paul Ryan is also a recipient of the same Social Security program he now wants to destroy…

The Grandstanding Bus

The Grandstanding Bus

The art of grandstanding is another one of those human/organic characteristics that has obviously been around since the beginning of time and probably utilized with the intention of achieving the exact same results, then and now. The age-old saying of “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” may be […]

Tax Day is the New Fourth of July

What could possibly be more patriotic than supporting your country by making sure it can afford to do the work we created it to do? Tax Day is the day we chip in, together, to make our country a better place to live.

Shutting ‘Birthers’ Up For Good

Was President Barack Hussein Obama II born in Hawaii? Yes. Is there proof of this? Yes. Instead, where do the ‘Birthers’ (those that believe President Obama was born outside of the U.S.A.) believe the President was born? Africa… of course.

Fight Back, Democrats!

Fight Back, Democrats!

Democrats finally held their ground against Republicans in Congress on Friday, taking a stand against Republican attempts to destroy programs that serve the public.

The Republican ‘Budget’

The Republican ‘Budget’

The right-wing of the Republican party, led by House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan has released their federal budget plan. Ryan claims it will knock off trillions of dollars from our national debt. He thinks it’s a great plan. And why not? It sure cuts out of a lot of bothersome “people” programs.

The Republican Budget Isn’t Good Enough

The GOP controlled House of Representatives has submitted yet another stop gap measure, this one only for a week, to once again, forestall the shutdown of government services. This measure has been shot down by the Obama administration, favoring instead an all or nothing approach.

Hello Scott Walker

Hello Mr. Scott Walker; how’s your day—better than the unions and the teachers you’ve just legislatively violated I would assume. One of these days, if not today, the people of this nation will finally realize that our similarities make us much stronger than our differences.

The Democratic Scorpion, or How We Sting Ourselves in Our Collective Ass

So the President’s running for re-election. That should come as no surprise to anyone. Most Presidents aspire to a second term. It’s only natural that Democrats should be pleased. Whatever you say, he’s accomplished a lot – more than his previous two Democratic predecessors.

What Can You Really Pass to Your Children?

The right wing NEEDS this process of inherited political thinking. The policies they endorse make no sense, so they need to create an army of followers that don’t question anything.

Disastrous Dependence

The need for energy has never been more important. America has been dependent on oil to meet its energy needs for over a century now and as the rest of the world aspires to be like us, it is clear that the worlds supply of oil is thinning out and running dry.

Big Business Loopholes and Bipartisanship

This is something you might not want to hear. If you don’t think you can keep an open-mind for about thirty seconds while I explain my position, you should probably be a conservative. I’m not suggesting anything drastic, just a partial ceasefire.

To: GOP – Should I claim rape?

To: GOP – Should I claim rape?

The GOP has decided not to figure out how to make the economy stable by getting the GDP up, which creates more products coming into the country than going out. Oh no, they have focused on redefining rape and cutting education.

Stop assuming I’m Christian

A few weeks ago, I had a conversation with a tea partier. About religion. That I started. I don’t know why I did this, I like to think I’m reasonably intelligent, but alas, it seems I’m also a bit masochistic.
